Holo and his brother left their town and went to the surface as children because of Holo's fear of being touched by others. They both became Ayanashi, people who fight the monsters on the surface and patrol between the towns underground. Recently, Holo's little brother was tragically killed by a One-Eyed Man and Holo has sworn revenge against the mysterious man. Holo also has a pet owl named Hugo and fights with a flaming short sword attached to his right arm.
