Adam Eric Canning of Xehana is an illegimate child of a nobleman. His mother remarried when he was young, he was then sent to Old Xehana where he was welcomed by a distant relative, Baron Auber, as his adoptive son. Before his departure, his mother bestowed on him the title of Viscount as a parting gift. He currently lives in Lorraine where he works as the bodyguard of the Justice Minister, Lord Montagu (Joel Letreux) to ensure his protection. The current queen of Lorraine, Queen Mother Eleanor, is a distant relative of Adam's mother.
