Hildegard Silber

    About

Hildegard Silbe is a head engineer for Void Garden and the creator of Garden's AI Silber.

Due to Silber using her creator as a template for her own appearance, Hildegard is noted to have an identical face to her AI creation. However, unlike Silber, Hildegard hides behind a parasol and wears thick glasses. She usually wears a conservative black gothic lolita dress with lot of frills. Her posture is often described as hunched, making it even difficult to see her face at certain angles.

Hildegard has a shy personality, often shuddering and awkwardly laughing when she has to talk to someone else. Kuroe notes that she is a sensitive person and will often cower or burst into tears at the slightest hint of antagonism or questioning.

Nevertheless, Hildegard has a sharp analytic mind when it comes to technology, being the one trusted by Kuroe to verify the legitimacy of Ruri's video. At times, when hiding behind a monitor, Hildegard can be somewhat trollish, often enjoy pranks that involve giraffes.

In volume 3, while on their way to classroom from the headmaster conference meeting, Mushiki and Kuroe run into Hildegard, who is busy pacing and lost in thought. At first, Mushiki mistakes Hildegard for the AI Silber, but that notion is soon proven wrong when his hand accidentally collides into Hildegard's chest. While Kuroe explains Hildegard's identity as a member of the Knights, Mushiki is at first confused since her personality is considerably different from the other Knights he is familiar with. Hildegard can only awkwardly laugh in response to Mushiki's silent criticism. However, Kuroe explains that as Garden's engineering chief and overseer of its digital security, Hildegard can be described as the member who best looks after the students.

When Mushiki asks why Silber wants to be called a big sister by anyone she is talking to, Hildegard burst into tears, complaining it was due to the AI developing a strange personality after installing a self-learning program.

Much later, Hildegard is approached by Mushiki and Kuroe to verify if the video recording of Ruri sent by Hollow Ark is indeed accurate. Hildegard agrees with Mushiki that Ruri not mentioning Saika in her farewell video was highly suspect. However, she also notes that the video didn't seem fake in the sense of being electronically edited. Afterwards, Mushiki, as Saika, requests Hildegard's aid in their current mission.

Unlike the other Knights, Hildegard was chosen not for her combat skills, but rather for her technical prowess as an engineer. Hildegard is a genius hacker, being able to tamper with Hollow's Ark's security systems while she herself is still at Garden. This included preventing Mushiki's group from being eavesdropped, disabling security cameras, and even sending a 3D hologram of a giraffe to disturb the Azurs.
