Basil is Sunny's best friend out of his childhood group. He was introduced to the group by Aubrey, and is similarly as shy as Sunny. He loves flowers and taking care of his personal garden; he is also sentimental towards his friends and memories of them, becoming attached enough to keep a photo album after being gifted a Polaroid camera on his 12th birthday. He is very kind and empathetic, even towards his possessions.
In Sunny's Headspace, Omori and his friends go on a world-spanning adventure in search of Basil, who disappeared shortly after the beginning of the game.
Basil became even more sensitive after Mari's death. When Sunny finally leaves his house after four years, he finds that Basil has become overly anxious, cries at any slight sense of conflict whether or not it is actually present, and even gets hallucinatory panic attacks. He isolates himself after the tragedy, though he becomes bullied by Aubrey after she sees his photo album and assumes that he vandalized their precious childhood memories.
Basil is revealed to be a witness to Mari's death; he was even the one who suggested that her corpse should be hung up in Sunny's backyard with jump rope, making it look like she killed herself. He still feels massive guilt over this and hiding the truth, and eventually attacks Sunny in a confrontation.
If Omori watered Basil's plants in Headspace after he goes missing, a secret ending will occur after the good ending, in which the manifestation of Basil's guilt disappears as he smiles back at Sunny.
If Sunny does not confront Basil in his room after remembering the truth, Basil will instead kill himself with his garden shears.
