On June 18, 2016, Yelchin was due to meet friends for a rehearsal. After not hearing from him for hours, his friends went to his San Fernando Valley home at 1 a.m. and found Yelchin dead. He was found pinned between his car, a brick mailbox, and a security fence. His driveway is on an incline and his car was found still running and in neutral. The following day he was pronounced dead.
